Sam Fender has handed over the entirety of his twenty-five thousand pound honor cash to the trust for venues, which operates to preserve the United Kingdom's independent music venues.

Fender was awarded the cheque on 16 October as his new release his work was named the top album of the past year.

Fender has opted to donate the funds to the Music Venues Trust, in recognition of the crucial part grassroots venues played in his beginning days.

"As an artist would not have achieved my current career if it weren't for all the gigs I performed around the North East, and further afield, when I was just getting going," stated Fender. "These spaces are renowned, but they are in difficulty."

From early 2023 onward, more than 150 of these spaces have ceased operations – about 16 percent of the whole industry in the UK.

Over the past year, top acts like the band Pulp, the group Coldplay, Katy Perry and Ed Sheeran have all supported the MVT in its attempts to help venues survive, by including a minor surcharge to their ticket prices, which goes to help independent venues.

He also participated, collecting in excess of £100,000 on his live tour to assist thirty-eight local spots across the UK.

The donation helped spaces that were facing imminent closure due to difficulties caused by water damage, blazes and bereavements, as well as regulatory hurdles, conflicts and neighbor objections.

Additional spaces received financial assistance in modernizing facilities and sound and lighting systems that helped musicians and concertgoers.

"The idea that funds from performances in large arenas helps the local stages, where it begins for performers like me, is just sensible," Fender has commented.
